Astronomy Camp – Session 3

Get lost in the stars in BOCES Astronomy Camp! Students will be leaning all about astronomy and what makes it so beautiful! There will be hands on learning with telescopes and great opportunities to look at the sky to see what it’s all about!  Students will be staying at the dorms Monday – Thursday and picked up by 10:00 am Friday!

RESIDENCE ASTRONOMY PROGRAM!!
This program has been in existence since 1991. Here’s what to expect during the session: DAY ONE: Plan to arrive at the commons area in Rocky Mountain II, the dorm your child will be staying in) at WWCC by 1:00 p.m. for a short orientation for students and parents. Classes will begin right after settling into the dorms. Bring the required signed behavior contract (link below) and your personal items. Evening observations begin about 8:30 p.m. each night. DAYS TWO AND THREE: Features classes on astronomy, computer work, and planned recreational activities. Thursday evening is Parents Night. Please join us at the lower parking lot below Rocky Mountain II at 8:15 pm to follow us to the site where your child will show you the wonderful things learned throughout the week. DAY FOUR: Features a trip to Salt Lake City to attend sessions at the Planetarium. DAY FIVE: Final activities, T-shirts, culminating activity of the week, and dorm clean up. Parents can pick up their child at 10:00 at the dorm. Please be prompt as our campers will be tired and ready to go home! What to bring: 1) Clothes for each day and night. Warm clothes are a must: Winter coat, pants, lightweight gloves, stocking cap, hoody and toe covered shoes. 2) Personal toiletries. 3) Plain White T-shirt for activity. 4) Day pack. 5) Small Flashlight. 6) Money for souvenirs at the planetarium. 7) Reading material for quiet time. 😎 Cards or Board games for down-time. 9) Drinks and healthy, low sugar snacks for dorm rooms (optional). 10) Fan for your room (optional). 11) Camp Chairs. 12) Sleeping bags, pillows, and towels (bed linens if desired.)
TV’s and VCR’s are not recommended. Musical devices and cell phones are not to be an interference. SBOCES assumes no responsibility for theft, loss or damages to such items.
